Netherlands Interested with City’s Waste Bank

Netherlands’ Infrastructure and Environmental Minister, Melanie Schultz van Haegen, visited the Mekar Sari waste bank on Jalan Mampang Prapatan IV RT 08/05, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, Tuesday (11/22).

She said that her side is attracted with the waste bank program. She assessed that 30 percent of glasshouse emission in Indonesia is produced from waste. It means waste bank is important to reduce the impact.

“I’m excited to see how the citizens assist the government reducing the impact,” she said.

Deposit Waste Via Application

She continued that citizen participation is the key of success for waste bank program. She will take the learning to her country about how to involve the citizens managing waste.

Meanwhile, Mampang Prapatan Urban Village Head, Ramli, stated waste bank in RW 05 is a model project. It has 15 people as management.

He added that the waste bank has been visited by country’s guests from Japan, Philippines, and now Netherlands.
